Ford Finally Makes a Hybrid Worth Buying

Ever since the Taurus took a nose dive a few years ago, Ford has been looking for a suitable replacement to challenge the Accord and Camry in the mid-sized car segment.The Ford Fusion has been around since 2006 but is now modified with the new Hybrid power plant system from Ford.The 2008 Los Angeles Auto Show.In comparison to competitors, the Ford Fusion Hybrid gets some of the best in-town gas mileage.The Environemetal Protection Agency gives the Fusion a rating of 41 Miles Per Gallon which is much better than the Toyota Camry, and even better than the fuel efficient Civic Hybrid; all this from a medium sized hybrid car.  The Fusion’s electric engine can power the car up to 47 MPH without any help from the gas engine.  Already there have been many automotive magazines that have employed this system to achieve much better MPG ratings then the EPA estimates.

By using new technology, the Fusion can help drivers know which driving style recieves the best fuel economy.The Smart Gauge is a set of gauges built into the display.The driver is innundated with info from the dual data monitors next to the gauge cluster.The 1st display tells the power left in the battery packs and the remaining amount of fuel.  The second data screen adds an electric vehicle mode indicator and RPM Tach.The 3rd monitor shows motor and batter power.  The fourth and final data screen shows power to the wheels and accessory power consumption.Knowledge centers in the Fusion have data that consists of Miles Per Gallon, fuel efficiency report, travel chart, and changes in radiator temperatures.   The real time MPG information can show drivers which driving style is best for fuel economy.

Check the nav display to see the cool hybrid Energy Flow stuff.A couple of different things will be displayed like the charge of the car, the various hybrid power systems, the regenerative braking, and the boost.

Seperating itself from the hybrid pack, the Fusion has seats made from reclaimed fabric.Ford has finally come out with a fuel efficient car that will appeal to the masses and be a leading competitor to Toyota and Honda’s hybrids.
